Thesis: I'll experience different religions to find which one fits me best.
Description: I will educate myself on 5 different religions, by taking notes. I will ask my friends about their religious beliefs and ask them if learning about different beliefs would help them figure out their own beliefs. I would record their answers. Have a survey asking teens why don't they have religious beliefs and what would help them have a religious belief if they want one. Lastly I will visit different religious churches and take photos and notes.
Jasmin's religious adventure.
I chose this because : I noticed that most teens weren't aware of the different religious beliefs, and how religion isn't as important to teens as it use to be. I wanted to solve : The conflict of children not having a religious belief, because they're not aware of them. My solution to fix this : Was to make myself more aware of the different religions and see how it affected me. I wanted to see if I would change my mind about my religious beliefs, or would my research make me have less prejudice thoughts towards other religions. My steps:
I researched 5 different religions ( Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism)
gathered 10 main facts about them
visited some different religious churches (sadly only two)
made a survey
wrote a paragraph on how this experience affected me
My amazing plan : was to make myself more aware of the different religions by visiting churches and researching them. Giving surveys to students to see how they feel about religions and why they don't have one. My obstacles : It was hard for me to get transportation to the different churches and it was hard for me to make time for my project because I was also in track. I wasn't able to visit as many churches as I wanted. I wasn't able to take pictures with the teens I interview at the church because their parents had to sign a paper agreeing to them being in photos or images. Thoughts on process : I accomplished learning about different religions and it having an impact on my life. I learned that there are so many different things that I didn't know about nor did I believe in. I learned that i still have a lot of questions that I probably will never get answered, but I also learned that experiencing the different religions helps me understand others. I'm proud that I learned so much and I made some beautiful experiences. I wish that I had the chance to go and visit more churches and got more involved. Outcome : I don't feel like I made a huge difference, but I feel like I impacted the people I got to know and I impacted myself. The experience was just amazing and it taught me so much. If I had the resources or more time I would have tried to start clubs that introduce all the different religions.
