Annotated Bibliography Housman, Brian. “Why Are Teens Leaving the Faith?” LifeWay, Lifeway, 17 June 2013, www.lifeway.com/Article/ministry-family-Why-are-Teens-Leaving-the-Faith. Accessed 28 Nov. 2017. Most teens are losing their faith because of many different reasons. Teens have different reasons why they stopped having religious beliefs, however most of them have similar based reasons. The four main reasons that there was a shallow belief system, they had no room for doubt, had exclusive faith, or there were no answers for opposition. The belief systems gives us all the rules and they tell us what's right and wrong. Teens of my age question why certain actions are right and why others are wrong. For example, why is having sex before marriage is a sin. Lots of teens who leave faith had too many doubts and questions that weren’t answered. Most teens soon realized that you can’t be an intellectual and religious because science and religion are incompatible. They also ask if god is so loving why does he send people to such a horrible place as hell. I agree I have some doubts and there are many questions that i haven’t got answered, however I don’t agree that intellectual and faith aren’t compatible Howarth, Jan, et al. “Religion, beliefs and parenting practices.” Joseph Roundtree Foundation, 28 Nov. 2015, www.jrf.org.uk/report/religion-beliefs-and-parenting-practices. This article shows the standpoint of parents affect on teens religion by having the perspective of adolescents and their parents. This article showed that religion influences many aspects of parenting. Researchers asked parents and adolescents how their religious beliefs and practices affected family life. Most of them believed a religious way of life is passed between generations and grandparents which has a huge influence on their children. most parents believed that passing down their religion is an important part of parenting. Most parents and children believed that they shouldn’t be forced into a religion. I agree that religion being passed down is very important and that parents shouldn’t force their religion on their children. So overall I agreed with this article. “More Young People Are Moving Away From Religion, But Why?” NPR.org, NPR, 15 Jan. 2013, www.npr.org/2013/01/15/169342349/more-young-people-are-moving-away-from-religio n-but-why. Accessed 27 Nov. 2017. 1 out of five americans aren’t associated with a religion. This is the highest rate of non affiliated religious beliefs in US history. most of those younger than 30 are moving away from religion based places and things. 1 out of 3 young Americans say they don’t belong to any religion. Most of the people are talking about how it's hard to believe the stories in the bible and how there's no facts to prove that any of that anything in the bible is true. However some people say it helps them to believe that god gave them a purpose and that there might be a beautiful place waiting for them after death. I believe it is great to have something to look forward to and having a purpose in life however there aren’t any facts to prove any of these religious beliefs. “A Parent’s Influence.” CBN, The Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc., A nonprofit 501 (c)(3) Charitable Organization., www1.cbn.com/family/a-parent%27s-influence. Accessed 28 Nov. 2017. Parents think that their kids don’t listen to them or pay attention to how they feel, but studies show that parents influence has a huge impact on their kids.studies proved that kids are following their parents footsteps and watching them very closely. I agree that parents are the biggest influence on their children’s life. It showed that kids whose father attend church are more likely to keep attending church then if mom went to church.Parents should want more than their kids to attend church they should want their kids to be able to love god on a spiritual level without church. I agree because church isn’t the only way to be religious. Parents aren’t really sure what to tell their kids to keep following their steps in religion. This source came up with ten rules. 1. Expose your kids to many religions 2. Embrace the graven image of science 3. Don’t saddle your kids with your anxiety over the word “God” 4. Keep in mind: There in nothing wrong with faith 5. Honor your mother's faith 6. Don’t kill your kids good time 7. Don’t be a jerkwad 8. Don’t steal your child's ability to choose 9. Don’t lie about your own beliefs 10. Respect the religious without tolerating intolerance I think the most important thing is to set a good example and let them make their own decisions
